Main Street Fairmont and Marion County Master Gardeners to Hold Annual Tomato Festival

Tomato Festival to be a part of the August 20 Hometown Market




Fairmont, WV - Main Street Fairmont and the Marion County Master Gardeners are pleased to announce that the Annual Tomato Festival is back and will be held in downtown Fairmont on August the 20th.


Local gardeners interested in entering their prize tomatoes in the competition are asked to bring their entry to the Police Reserve building located at the East Marion Park, 35 City View Terrace, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Friday, August 19 between the hours of 3 PM and 6 PM. Representatives of the Marion County Master Gardeners will be on hand to accept the entries. On Saturday, the Tomato Festival and the season’s 4th Hometown Market will open at 10 AM on Monroe Street in downtown Fairmont. In addition to the Tomato Festival, over 40 vendors and artisans will be on hand at the August Hometown Market from 10 AM to 3 PM. Live music by the Soda Pop Gypsies will begin at noon.


Judging for the Tomato Festival will begin at 10 AM with prize winners announced at 1:30PM. After the judges’ results are tabulated, the public is invited to taste some of the best tomatoes in the area!
