Monthly Events Scheduled in Fairmont's Historic Downtown Rain or Shine
Main Street Fairmont will be hosting a series of Hometown Markets beginning May 15 and continuing through October 23. Building from the success of the limited Hometown Market series last year, Main Street Fairmont, in conjunction with the city of Fairmont, the Marion County Commission, and the Fairmont Farmers Market, will continue the "Hometown Market events beginning with the first market on May 15 from 10 AM to 3 PM. An alternate location will be announced in case of rain.
Over 20 artisans and crafters, non-profit organizations, farmers' markets, and food vendors have signed up for the inaugural market this year. In addition to the vendors, live music by Tom and Fiddler Mike, a special kids fun zone, kids coloring contest, yoga on the green, and the Discover the Friendly City Corn Hole tournament will add to the excitement of the May 15 event.
Future Hometown Markets will be on June 5, July 10, August 7, September 18, and October 23. Each of these events coincides with a concert hosted by the Marion County Commission at Palatine park later the same day.
Working with our community partners, we coordinated our scheduling so families could have an entire day of fun in downtown Fairmont said Main Street Fairmont's Executive Director, Tim Liebrecht. Families can kick off their day at the Hometown Market, enjoy a leisurely dinner at one of our fine eateries, then enjoy a concert in the park at Palatine park all in one day! Liebrecht continued, "In the coming months, future hometown markets will also include special activities such as arts in the park, a 5K race, classic car show, and capping off the season will be the first "Frank-n-Stein" Festival in October.
